Introduction to Marquetry
Suitable for complete beginners.
This course is an introduction to the basic techniques of pictorial marquetry by the "Window" method. Students will cut hardwood veneers and assemble a marquetry design for one or more coasters or similar items. Finishing and polishing will be discussed, but it may be necessary for the item to be completed after the course – either by the student or tutor.

Further Marquetry Techniques
Suitable for those with some experience, such as having taken one of the 'Introduction to Marquetry', 'Parquetry Patterns' or 'Making Marquetry Jewellery' courses
Students will learn more advanced marquetry techniques including sand-shading, hot-air shading, fine-line detailing, fragmentation, etc.

Parquetry Patterns 1
Suitable for complete beginners, but more suited to those with some experience.
Students will learn basic parquetry (geometric marquetry) techniques while cutting designs for either coasters, key fobs or pen box. Designs covered include checkerboard and closed basket-weave. Finishing and polishing will be discussed, but it may be necessary for the items to be completed after the course – either by the student or tutor.

Parquetry Patterns 2
Suitable for complete beginners, but more suited to those with some experience.
Students will learn basic parquetry (geometric marquetry) techniques while cutting designs for either coasters, key fobs or pen box. Designs covered include open basket-weave and Louis-cube (tumbling block). Finishing and polishing will be discussed, but it may be necessary for the items to be completed after the course – either by the student or tutor.

Marquetry Jewellery Workshop
Suitable for complete beginners.
The course will include an introduction to the basic techniques of pictorial and geometric marquetry. Students will cut hardwood veneers and assemble marquetry panels for items of jewellery and, time permitting, assemble and glue-up the items. Finishing and polishing will be discussed, but it may be necessary for the items to be completed after the course – either by the student or tutor.
